Ingredients

100% Pure Indian Black Tea
(Darjeeling, India)

How to Brew

You can discover our in depth black tea brewing guide to learn how to brew the perfect cup of tea. Use these quick steps to brew the perfect cup:

  • 1–2 teaspoons (2-3g) per cup
  • 200ml of fresh filtered boiled water (100°C)
  • Steep 3–5 minutes
  • Enjoy black or with milk

For a teapot, use 1-2 teaspoons per person, 600ml to 1l depending on teapot size, plus one extra teaspoon for the pot. (2 to 3g per person, with an additional 2g for the pot to ensure balance.)

For a stronger cup, use a little more tea and brew for a minute longer. For a lighter cup, simply reduce the leaf and shorten the steeping time. Feel free to experiment to find the balance that makes your perfect cup.

Authentic Darjeeling provenance from the Himalayan foothills

  • Great Taste Award-winning First Flush tea recognised for its exceptional quality
  • Light, floral and naturally muscatel rich flavour profile
  • Ideal for tea lovers who prefer refined black tea bags with clarity and brightness
  • Premium teabag format crafted from tender early season leaves
  • Suitable for both hot and chilled brewing
  • High quality Indian tea from world renowned terroir
  • A luxury alternative to everyday tea bags and a step above standard supermarket blends

Production and Leaf Grades

Darjeeling House Blend No. 08 is crafted from succulent First Flush leaves handpicked during the early spring harvest. The fine rolled leaf and delicate green tips undergo minimal oxidation to preserve their vibrant fragrance and fresh seasonal character.

This meticulous craftsmanship produces a bright amber infusion with floral vivacity, muscatel clarity and a clean, refreshing finish that distinguishes high grade First Flush Darjeeling in both loose leaf and premium tea bags formats.

Wellbeing and Potential Benefits

Naturally rich in polyphenol antioxidants, this pure Indian black tea offers a gentle, steady caffeine lift. Many tea drinkers choose Darjeeling as a more mindful, aromatic option compared with fuller bodied black tea bags. Its clean taste, purity and calorie free nature make it a refined choice for daily enjoyment.

Darjeeling Origin and Craftsmanship

Sourced from the celebrated tea gardens of Darjeeling, grown between 90 and 1,750 metres in the Himalayan foothills, this tea reflects the region’s cool mountain air, mineral rich soils and unique mosaic of microclimates.

Crafted from the small leaf Camellia sinensis sinensis variety, the leaves undergo minimal oxidation and expert rolling, enhancing their floral top notes and distinct muscatel brightness. This seasonal First Flush tea has been honoured by the Great Taste Awards and the Guild of Fine Food for its purity and craftsmanship.

Region

Darjeeling, India

Darjeeling, nestled in the Himalayas of West Bengal, is bordered by Nepal, Sikkim, and Bangladesh. The district, rising to elevations from 1,000m to 3,600m, presents a dramatic landscape that supports diverse microclimates from subtropical to tundra. This variance allows Darjeeling to produce its unique high-grown teas, which are world-renowned for their delicate and complex flavours. The city itself, positioned at 2,100m, offers stunning views of Kanchenjunga and even distant Mount Everest from Tiger Hill. Darjeeling’s climate varies significantly with elevation, featuring wet, overcast summers and mild, clear winters, ideal for tea cultivation.

The tea gardens thrive on steep slopes, benefiting from efficient drainage and rich biodiversity, including rare orchids and the endangered red panda. Despite its proximity to Assam, Darjeeling’s teas are remarkably distinct, thanks to its unique topography and climatic conditions. The soil here, loose and prone to landslides, contrasts with Assam’s fertile plains, yet provides perfect conditions for the Camellia sinensis plant, resulting in teas that burst with flavour each spring.
